The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduja has pardoned 136 inmates from Kano Correctional Center during the celebration of Eid-Kabir.
It’s being reported that the governor gave each of the inmate who were released N5,000 as their transport fare to go to their respective destination.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Abba Anwar issued the statement noting that it was part of the plan to reduce the congestion at the correctional center in the state.
In the statement, it was disclosed that the governor became certain on the decision after visiting Goron-,dutse Medium Correctional Center on Tuesday.
The statement quoted governor, Abdullahi Ganduja “You are Nigerians who deserved to be taken care of and that is why we are here today to celebrate with you this great Eid-el-Kabir, by pardoning some of you, we are also here to see how you are feeling and to share the joyous moment with you”
“We want those of you who repented to promise us not to go back to your previous nefarious acts,” he added.
