BREAKING: Ray Hushpuppi commits suicide in prison at Chicago


Young Nigerian millionaire Ramon Olorunwa Abass popularly known as Ray Hushpuppi has committed suicide in his Chicago Prison where he was being held ahead of his first trial in Court.

The office of the Metropolitan Correctional Centre (MCC) in Chicago says an inmate who fits Hushpuppi’s description at the city’s detention facility committed suicide on Wednesday morning.

Around 4:12 a.m., paramedics responded to an emergency at the male housing ward at the MMC.

Deputies say Hushpuppi was found hanging inside his cell. Deputies assisted him down and immediately performed CPR. He was not breathing and had no pulse.

Officials also used an automated external defibrillator with the help of medical staff. However, Ray who was likely to face a 20-year maximum sentence in prison was pronounced dead at the scene.

The MMC says it will not release the identity of the inmate until the next of kin is notified and positively identifies him.

Meanwhile, sources reveal the incident occurred in Hushpuppi’s cell.

The MCC has a mix of male and female offenders with the total number of inmates currently at 567.

At the moment, all visiting to the facility has been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
