Kano State Government has slashed the salaries of political office holders in the state by 50 per cent for the month of March due to lack of funds in the coffex of the federal government.

Malam Muhammad Garba who is the State Commissioner for Information revealed this in a statement on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, in which he said the action was due to a shortfall in the revenue accruing to the state from the federation account.

Malam Muhammed also added that the decision affected the governor, deputy governor and all public office holders in the state that included all commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants among others.

He ended his submissions by also alleging that the decrease in salaries spans from the local government level affecting the chairmen, vice-chairmen, elected councillors, supervisory councillors, advisers and secretaries of local governments.
