Comedy is an integral part of the entertainment industry that cannot be ruled out in the world of entertainment looking at how most people depend on it to entertain themselves despite the many problems encountered in their daily lives. According to Wikipedia, Comedy is “a genre of fiction consisting of discourses or works intended to be humorous or amusing by inducing laughter, especially in theatre, film, stand-up comedy, television, radio, books, or any other entertainment medium”.

In Ghana, comedy was the main source of entertainment for the majority of Ghanaians in the 90s and we can talk of the popular Concert Party Show where comedians stepped on the stage and entertained thousands of people both at the National Theatre and homes via television. The Concert Party Show was a show no one wanted to miss those days.

Legendary comedians such as Bob Okala, Akrobeto, Agya Koo, Bob Santo, Judas and others made the Concert Party Show a delight to watch. The National Theatre was filled to its capacity every Sunday with those at home glued to their television sets ready to be entertained.

The above comedians were also comic actors who played various characters in the Play that accompanied the comedy segment on the night at the National Theatre in the 90s. Most people who were born in that era still remember these comedians and the rush to watch them perform each Sunday.

Unfortunately, some of the above-mentioned comedians have died and others retired from comedy and now into other ventures or resting at the comfort of their homes.
