Matthew Kent Olson, born on March 29, 1994, is an American professional baseball first baseman for the Major League Baseball Atlanta Braves. He was previously with the Oakland Athletics.
Olson made his MLB debut in 2016 with the Oakland A’s. He was traded to the Braves ahead of the 2022 season after six seasons with the Athletics and received an eight-year contract extension. Olson has two Gold Glove Awards, and three Fielding Bible Awards, and was named to the 2021 All-Star team.
Scott and Lee Olson’s second son is Olson. Zack Olson, his older brother, pitched for the Harvard Crimson. Olson went to Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia, where he played first base and pitched for the Parkview Panthers, who won back-to-back state titles in 2011 and 2012.
Olson concluded his high school career with a.431 batting average, 44 doubles, 45 home runs, 168 RBIs, and a fielding percentage of more than 0.980.
