Ronald Bolanos is a Cuban baseball pitcher who now pitches for the Kansas City Royals in Major League Baseball. In 2019, he made his Major League Baseball debut with the San Diego Padres.
Bolanos played for Mayabeque of the Cuban National Series before coming to the United States. On August 11, 2016, he signed as an international free agent with the San Diego Padres.
Bolanos was 5–2 with a 4.42 ERA in 69 innings for the Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2017.
He pitched for the Lake Elsinore Storm last season, going 6–9 with a 5.11 ERA in 125 innings.
Bolanos pitched for Lake Elsinore and the Amarillo Sod Poodles in the minor leagues in 2019, going 13–7 with a 3.66 ERA in 129 innings.
On September 2, 2019, the Padres picked Bolaos’ contract and promoted him to the main leagues for the first time.
On September 3, he made his major league debut against the Arizona Diamondbacks, pitching six innings and allowing two runs.
Bolanos pitched for the Padres in three starts and two relief appearances in 2019, finishing with a 5.95 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 193 innings.
Bolanos and Franchy Cordero were traded to the Kansas City Royals for Tim Hill on July 16, 2020.
Bolanos pitched in two games for the 2020 Kansas City Royals, going 0-2 with a 12.27 ERA and two strikeouts in 3.2 innings thrown.
Bolanos was placed on the 60-day disabled list with a right forearm strain on June 18, 2021. On September 12, Bolanos was activated from the injured list.
