Timothy Gerard Mayza is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Toronto Blue Jays (MLB). In 2017, he made his MLB debut.
Mayza attended Upper Perkiomen High School in Red Hill, Pennsylvania, where she participated in baseball, basketball, and soccer.
He pitched a no-hitter as a sophomore. Mayza had a 5–3 win–loss record in his final high school season, a 2.73 earned run average (ERA), and 53 strikeouts in 51 innings thrown.
In November 2009, he signed a statement of intent to attend Millersville University of Pennsylvania. He played collegiate summer baseball with the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Cotuit Kettleers in 2012.
Mayza finished his final season with Millersville with an 11–3 record, 1.55 ERA, and 91 strikeouts in 982 innings pitched.
The Toronto Blue Jays selected Mayza in the 12th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft.
To begin his professional career, he was assigned to the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Blue Jays and got a $100,000 signing bonus.
Mayza was promoted to the Rookie Advanced Bluefield Blue Jays of the Appalachian League after three appearances in the Gulf Coast League.
Mayza appeared in 13 games in 2013, going 1–4, with a 7.76 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 29 innings thrown.
In 2014, he split his time between Bluefield and the Vancouver Canadians of the Short Season-A league. Mayza had a 2–4 record, a 6.75 ERA, and 20 strikeouts in 262/3 innings.
