Jordan Romano, a native of Canada, made his major league debut after pitching for the Italian national team.

Romano struck out 14 batters in 9 1/3 innings as a freshman at Connors State College in junior college, and 53 batters in 38 innings as a sophomore (4-3, 4.74) when his team advanced to the 2013 NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series.

In 2014, he was 3-4 with 12 saves and a 2.66 ERA after transferring to Oral Roberts University. He has the most saves in the Southland Conference.

He was drafted in the 10th round of the 2014 amateur draft by the Toronto Blue Jays.

 

 

He pitched for the GCL Blue Jays (0 R in 3 IP) and the Bluefield Blue Jays for the rest of 2014. (1-1, 2.16 in 11 G, 33 K, 9 BB in 25 IP).

He missed the entire 2015 season due to Tommy John surgery. When he returned to the game in 2016, he went 3-2 with a 2.11 ERA and a.191 opponent average in four starts.

He pitched five no-hit innings against the Peoria Chiefs, walking two and striking out five, but Romano took the loss because a player he walked (Craig Aikin) advanced on an error and scored on a sacrifice fly after DeGraaf came in, resulting in a 1-0 loss for Lansing. It was only the franchise’s second no-hitter in its history.
