Austin Meadows was born in Grayson, Georgia, and played baseball with Clint Frazier as a kid. As a junior, he led Grayson High School’s baseball team to the Georgia Class 6A State Semifinals, hitting.390 with four home runs, 28 runs batted in (RBIs), and 19 stolen bases.
Meadows was selected a Rawlings and Perfect Game preseason First-Team High School All American, and he hit.535 with 14 doubles, one triple, four home runs, and 28 RBIs in his senior season.
Meadows also played football at Grayson, where he was teammates with Wayne Gallman and Robert Nkemdiche as a running back, wide receiver, and punter.
Meadows’ pay was boosted to $578,900 in 2020 after being raised to $557,400 in 2019. Meadows was traded to the Detroit Tigers for Isaac Paredes and a competitive balance round B choice in the 2022 MLB draft on April 4, 2022.
