Daniel A. Lynch is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Kansas City Royals (MLB).

Lynch played baseball at Douglas S. Freeman High School in Henrico, Virginia, before making his MLB debut in 2021.

He had a 0.97 earned run average as a junior. He attended the University of Virginia after high school and was a member of the Virginia Cavaliers baseball team.

He pitched in 13 games with nine starts for Virginia as a freshman, going 1–3 with a 5.49 earned run average (ERA) and 37 strikeouts. He made 14 starts as a sophomore, going 7–5 with a 5.00 ERA and 45 strikeouts.

He pitched for the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod League the next summer, with a 4–0 record with a 2.04 ERA and 25 strikeouts in six starts, and was named a league all-star.

Lynch went 4–4 over 13 starts with a 3.96 ERA and 105 strikeouts during his junior season.

The Kansas City Royals selected Lynch with the 34th overall choice in the 2018 Major League Baseball draft. On June 10, 2018, he signed a $1.7 million contract with the Royals.

He began his professional career with the Rookie-level Appalachian League’s Burlington Royals before getting promoted to the Class A South Atlantic League’s Lexington Legends.

Between the two clubs, he was 5–1 with a 1.58 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP in 12 starts.

Lynch played for the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the Carolina League’s Class A-Advanced division in 2019 and was selected as a Carolina League All-Star midway through the season.

He had a 5–2 record and a 3.10 ERA in 15 starts. Following the season, he was selected to play for the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League, where he was named an All-Star.

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the minor league season was canceled in 2020, and he did not play in any minor league games.
