Gilbert Gottfried, the famous comedian, died on Tuesday, April 12th, 2022, after a long illness. At the age of 66, he breathed his last breath.
The news of his death was announced by his family in an official statement on Tuesday. He was remembered by his family as a “great husband, brother, friend, and father,” as well as the “most famous voice in comedy.”
Glenn Schwartz, Gottfried’s longtime friend and publicist, later claimed to In Touch Weekly that the comic had myotonic dystrophy type 2, a kind of muscular dystrophy. Recurrent Ventricular Tachycardia was the cause of his death. Gottfried is survived by his wife, Dara Kravitz, and their two children.
Dara Kravitz, Gilbert Gottfried’s wife, is a record producer with a long history in the music industry. In 1997, she apparently met Gilbert Gottfried at a Grammys celebration, and the two later began dating.
The couple has been together for ten years and married on February 3rd, 2007. Kravitz has already collaborated with Gottfried on several occasions.
She was the executive producer of “Gilbert Gottfried: Dirty Jokes,” a comedy special from the year 2000, and she also produced her husband’s “The Amazing Colossal Podcast.”
