Edward Nathan George Jr. Is a former professional American footballer who played the running back in the NFL for nine consecutive seasons. Born on September 24, 1993, in Philadelphia, United States.
Won the Heisman trophy in 1995 when he played for the Ohio State University. Attended Abington Senior High School. In his post-graduate season, he rushed for 1372 yards.
Drafted in 1996 in the first round of the NFL he played professionally for Tennessee. From 1960-to 2021 in the history of career touchdown leaders, Eddie made 74 touchdowns making him the touchdown leader at the time.
George was the favorite in the first-round draft selection of the Houston Oilers. In 1996 he won the NFL Rookie of the year. And also made the pro bowl in four consecutive years from 1997 to 2007.
George in the NFL is the only second running back to rush for 10,000 yards. His career records and totals include 10,441 rushing yards, 268 receptions, 2,227 receiving yards, and 78 touchdowns (68 rushings and 10 receiving).
He became a semi-finalist in 2021 for the pro football hall of fame.
In July 2004 Eddie George signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys for $1.5. Became the backup running back midway through the season finishing with 439 yards on 132 carries and 4 touchdowns. He retired in 2006. George’s records precede him even today.
