Edward Olivares (born March 6, 1996) is a Venezuelan professional baseball outfielder for the Kansas City Royals. He is 6 feet 2 inches tall. He also formerly played for the San Diego Padres.
The Toronto Blue Jays signed Olivares as an international free agent on July 2, 2014. He hit.314/.436/.414/.850 with one home run and 22 RBI in his professional debut with the DSL Blue Jays in 2014.
On August 29, 2020, the Padres traded Olivares and a player to be named later to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for bullpen reliever Trevor Rosenthal. In 18 games with the 2020 Kansas City Royals, Olivares batted.274 with two home runs and seven RBIs.
On January 6, 2018, the San Diego Padres acquired Olivares and Jared Carkuff in exchange for Yangervis Solarte. He played for the Lake Elsinore Storm in 2018, hitting.277/.321/.429/.750 with 12 home runs and 62 RBI.
Following the season, he was added to the Padres’ 40-man roster. Olivares spent the 2019 season slicing for the Amarillo Sod Poodles. Over 127 games, he hit 283/.349/.453 with 18 home runs, 77 RBIs, and 35 stolen bases.
