How Long is Anthony Davis Injured For?
After an MRI on his knee, Davis was supposed to be out for five weeks at the most. Since December 17th, Lakers forward Anthony Davis has been out with a sprained MCL in his right knee.
Davis is likely to be out for around one month due to a sprained MCL. If the Lakers are lucky, Davis will be out for only 15 games, which will leave him with 37 games left to play in the league.
However, the eventual return of the eight-time All-Star to the lineup should not be viewed as a panacea for the team’s problems that will undoubtedly arise while he is off.
Upon his injury, the Lakers were 16–14 and a six-seed in the Western Conference with the league’s easiest schedule.
They were only four games out of 11th place at the time. In terms of net rating, they came in at number 20, tenth in defensive rating, and twenty-fourth in offensive rating.
Davis has missed the Lakers’ last 16 games, during which time the team has gone 7-9. Davis’ return to the team remains uncertain. Across 27 games this season, Davis has averaged 23.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.1 blocks, and 1.2 steals while shooting 53% from the field.
