JYP Entertainment founded Twice, a South Korean girl group that has nine members. Twice debuted on October 20, 2015, with the extended play (EP) The Story Begins, as part of the television program Sixteen (2015).
Twice catapulted to domestic recognition in 2016 with their track “Cheer Up,” which topped the charts one on the Gaon Digital Chart, becoming the year’s best-selling single, and won “Song of the Year” at the Melon Music Accolades and Mnet Asian Music Awards.
“TT,” from 3rd EP project Twicecoaster: Lane 1, was their next single, and it topped the Gaon charts for four weeks in a row.
The trio made its debut in Japan on June 28, 2017, with the release of #Twice, a collection album released by Warner Music Japan. With the biggest first-week album sales by a K-pop artist in Japan in two years, the album debuted at number two on the Oricon Albums Chart.
Twice’s first original Japanese maxi single, “One More Time,” was released in October as a follow-up. Twice became the only Korean girl band to be certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) that same year for both an album and a CD single.
Is Twice Popular in America?
According to the Kpopers criteria, Twice is considered less popular in the United States. They may not be as well-known as the two groups who made a significant effect on Americans, but we may expect twice to rise in popularity in the future.
Due to most people’s musical preferences, Twice is not as popular. Twice’s charming notion is edgier than Blackpink’s. That is most likely one of the factors behind the less popularity of twice.
