Jackson Kowar Pro Career
In the 2018 Major League Baseball draft, the Kansas City Royals picked Kowar with the 33rd overall choice, and he signed for $2,147,500.
With the Lexington Legends of the Class A South Atlantic League, he made his professional debut. He was 0-1 with a 3.42 ERA in nine starts.
Kowar started 2019 with the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the Carolina League’s Class A-Advanced, where he was selected as an All-Star.
He was promoted to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals of the Class AA Texas League after pitching to a 5-3 record with a 3.53 ERA in 13 starts.
He finished the year with them. He went 2-7 with a 3.51 ERA in 13 starts with the Naturals, striking out 78 batters in 74+13 innings.
Owing to the termination of the minor league season due to the COVID-19 epidemic, Kowar did not play in any games in 2020.
He was sent to the Omaha Storm Chasers of the Triple-A East League to begin the 2021 season. Kowar started the season with a 5-0 record and 0.85 ERA in six games, striking out 41 batters in 313 innings.
Kowar was promoted to the major leagues on June 6, 2021, and will start against the Los Angeles Angels the following day.
He was promoted to the active roster the following day. Before being taken from the game with two outs in the first inning, Kowar gave up four earned runs, three hits, two walks, and three wild pitches in his debut.
