27-year-old Jacob Steven Brentz (born September 14, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Major League Baseball Kansas City Royals (MLB). The Toronto Blue Jays selected him in the 11th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft.

Brentz, Rob Rasmussen, and Nick Wells were traded to the Seattle Mariners on July 31, 2015, in exchange for Mark Lowe. He spent the rest of the season with the Low-A Everett AquaSox.
He divided the 2016 season between Everett and the Single-A Clinton LumberKings, while also appearing in two games for the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers.
Brentz and Pedro Vasquez were traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates on September 1, 2016, in exchange for Arquimedes Caminero. Brentz spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons with the High-A Bradenton Marauders and the Double-A Altoona Curve, respectively.
Brentz began the 2019 season with Altoona before getting promoted to the Indianapolis Indians of the Triple-A Midwest League. Brentz was released by the Pirates on August 16, 2019.
