Jonathan Bowlan was born on December 1, 1996. He is 25 years old.
Jonathan Bowlan is a professional baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals in the United States.
Bowlan played college baseball at the University of Memphis after graduating from Bartlett High School in Bartlett, Tennessee. The Kansas City Royals selected him in the second round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft.
Bowlan made his professional debut with the Idaho Falls Chukars, pitching 35 innings and finished 1-4 with a 6.94 ERA.
He began the 2019 season with the Lexington Legends before being promoted to the Wilmington Blue Rocks midway through the year.
In July, he pitched a no-hitter against the Carolina Mudcats while pitching for Wilmington. Bowlan went 11-5 with a 3.14 ERA and 150 strikeouts over 146 innings in 26 games (23 starts) between the two organizations.
Due to the discontinuation of the minor league season in 2020, he did not play a game, and he only appeared in four games in 2021 due to Tommy John surgery in May.
On November 19, 2021, Bowlan was added to the 40-man roster following the season.
Bowlan had Tommy John surgery last summer, and Tuesday’s bullpen session marked his return to the mound.
The 25-year-old still has a long way to go in his recuperation, and he should continue to strengthen his arm in the hopes of playing in the second half of the 2022 season.
