Jonathan Loáisiga is the son of former Nicaraguan national team outfielder Stanley Loáisiga and the brother of minor leaguer Mike Loáisiga.

In September 2012, Jonathan Loáisiga was signed by the San Francisco Giants. His 2013 DSL Giants season saw him go 8-1 with a 2.75 ERA in 13 starts; however, he missed the following two seasons and was released in September of that year.

Early in 2016, he was signed by New York Yankees, but after just one game with the Charleston RiverDogs on May 13, he needed Tommy John surgery and didn’t pitch again until June, 2017.

Nevertheless, Jonathan Loáisiga has performed admirably for the Nicaraguan national team during the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers.

With the GCL Yankees East, the GCL Yankees West, and the Staten Island Yankees, Jonathan Loáisiga was able to get back into the swing of things after a slew of career setbacks.

In 11 starts and 32 2/3 innings, he was 1-1 with a 1.38 ERA. Nobody expected him to ascend so rapidly in 2018, but he was 3-0, 1.35 in four starts with the Tampa Tarpons at the beginning of the season, so he was promoted to the AA Trenton Thunder.

In the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifier, Loáisiga was a member of the Nicaraguan national baseball team.
