Early Life of Kliff Karl Kinsbury

Kliff Karl Kingsbury was born on August 9, 1979, in San Antonio, Texas to Earl and Kim Kingsbury. He attended and played high school football at New Braunfels High School.

Kingsbury is the brother of J.J. Kidder, who also played football at Texas Tech, and Major League Baseball player Micah Owings. His family moved to West Germany after his mother’s service in the US Army stationed there and then returned to the United States when Kliff was in junior high.

 

He attended high school at New Braunfels High School, where he was an all-district honoree in football as a senior, making the academic all-state team in 1997 and 1998.

Kliff Kingsbury is the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. He played college football at Texas Tech, before being drafted in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. After a short career as an NFL player with the New England Patriots, he entered coaching and was hired as offensive coordinator by Texas A&M in 2012.

Then, he was hired by the University of Houston to be their new football head coach on December 10, 2013, becoming their youngest head coach in NCAA FBS history at age 33.
