Lamar Demeatrice Jackson Jr., a quarterback with the National Football League’s Baltimore Ravens, was born on January 7, 1997. At Louisville, he won the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore and was taken by the Ravens as the final pick in the first round of the 2018 National Football League Draft.
Because of an injury to Joe Flacco during his rookie season, Jackson took over as the starting quarterback for the Ravens and guided the team to a divisional championship. At the age of 21, he also became the NFL’s youngest starting quarterback in a playoff game.
Jackson set a single-season record for quarterback rushing yards and led the league in touchdown passes the following season, leading the Ravens to the American Football Conference’s top seed (AFC). He became the second unanimous Most Valuable Player (MVP) and the fourth African-American quarterback to win the award as a result of his achievement.
Jackson followed up his MVP season by becoming the first quarterback to record successive 1,000-yard rushing seasons while leading the Ravens to their third straight playoff appearance.
