Sara Bareilles is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and author. Bareilles released a self-published album Careful Confessions in 2004.
On December 7, 1979, Bonnie Halvorsen, a funeral home worker, gave birth to Sara Bareilles, who was the product of her parents’ union.
Two of her sisters, as well as a half-sister, were raised in Eureka, California. She is descended from Italian, English, German, Portuguese, and French families.
She developed a love for singing as a child and was a member of her high school’s ‘Limited Edition’ choir. As a child, she performed in several local community theater performances as well as in the high school musical, “Little Shop of Horrors.”
Bullying and body shaming from her peers made her childhood a difficult one. The school pupils bullied her so badly that she was forced to transfer.
She graduated from high school in 1998 and attended the ‘University of California, Los Angeles’ for her undergraduate studies in communication (UCLA). A member of ‘Awaken a Capella,’ she was a vocalist.
In 2004, the group’s cover of “Gravity” was included on the compilation CD “Best of College a Cappella 2004.” She sang at the UCLA Spring Sing, an annual student event. In 2002, she graduated from UCLA.
