Canada is a proud country of numerous homegrown talents. Actors, great entertainers, and hugely talented singers. These singers range in age, musical style, and personality. Canadian artists have made a huge impact on music and have created a fortune. In ascending order we are taking a look at the top 10 richest musicians in Canada.
10.Nelly Furtado- $35 Million
Nelly Kim Furtado was one of the tons of new emerging artists hitting the screens in the early 2000s. She rose to the top with her hit album “Whoa Nelly” and is best known for her hit song, “I’m like a bird”.
Selling over 40 million records worldwide under her own label after parting ways with her management. This made her one of the most successful Canadian artists.
Nelly Kim Furtado won the Grammy awards and other numerous awards she was awarded the Commander of the Order of Prince Henry by the then President of Portugal, Anibal Cavaco Silva.
9. Alanis Morisette – $45 Million
Born in Ottawa on the 1st of June,1974, Alanis Morisette began to play piano at the age of 6 and since then showed signs of being a musical star at that very young age. Her career began in the late 1980s.
Morissette was giving out her music demos to anyone that would listen. She eventually got her big break in 1991 when MCA Records Canada released her album.
This album went platinum and everyone knew that she was going to continue to climb her way up the fame ladder. Her most famous album seems to be Jagged Little Pill which includes the hit track “You Oughta Know”.
8. Avril Lavigne – $50 Million
Avril Lavigne had appeared on stage with Shania Twain at the age of 15 and by 16, she had signed a two-album recording contract with Arista Records worth more than $2 million. Her debut studio album, Let Go (2002), is the best-selling album of the 21st century by a Canadian artist.
Lavigne’s third studio album, The Best Damn Thing (2007), reached number one in seven countries worldwide and saw the international success of its lead single “Girlfriend”, which became her first single to reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.
Her fourth and fifth studio albums, Goodbye Lullaby (2011) and Avril Lavigne (2013), saw continued commercial success and were both certified gold in Canada, the United States, and other territories. In 2019, Lavigne released her sixth studio album, Head Above Water.

With his unique voice and hearing him on every radio station during Christmas. Michael knew he always wanted to be a singer. He would sleep with his bible every night and pray to become a successful singer.
Thankfully he had a breakthrough, his dreams became reality.

6. Neil Young – $80 Million
Neil Young is a Canadian musical legend who had been instated into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice and has been nominated and won several Juno and Grammy Awards.
A great musical talent he is. He is able to play guitar, harmonica, vocals, and organ.
He was a part-time member of Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Since the beginning of his solo career with his backing band Crazy Horse, he has released many important albums, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Harvest, and After The Gold Rush.
5. The Weekend – $90 Million
Abel Tesfaye aka The Weekend is a relatively new artist on the music scene. He blew up in America and is one of the artists Canada is really proud of having.
YouTube was a huge help in getting Abel’s career off the ground. Releasing singles anonymously and getting people to jump to it and support. Through that, Fellow Canadian artist Drake ended up hearing one of his tracks and got the ball rolling with The Weekend’s musical career.
The Weekend has won a total of 3 Grammy’s and 15 Juno Awards and was actually nominated for an Academy Award. He has come a long way since his YouTube days, getting a total of 412 nominations and bagged 136 from it
4. Drake – $170 Million
Gaining recognition by starring in the teen drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation (2001–08), Aubrey Graham aka Drake began his career in music releasing his debut mixtape Room for Improvement in 2006.
Drake later released the mixtapes Comeback Season in 2008 and So Far Gone in 2009 before signing with Young Money Entertainment.
He is among the world’s best-selling music artists with over 170 million records sold, Drake is ranked as the highest certified digital singles artist in the United States by the RIAA.
He has won four Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, a record of 29 Billboard Music Awards, two Brit Awards, and three Juno Awards, and holds several Billboard Hot 100 chart records.
3. Justin Bieber – $285 Million
The young Ontario native began his career as a guitar player on the streets of Ontario. Through his YouTube uploads his current manager is covered him and since then had his breakthrough.
In 2013, Bieber received a Diamond award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for his single “Baby”, which at the time became the highest certified digital single of all time. Bieber is credited with three diamond-certified singles from the RIAA for “Baby”, “Sorry”, and “Despacito”.
The two-time Grammy winner and eight-time Juno Awards winner has a total of 331 awards nominations and bagging 310 from it.

2. Shania Twain – $400 Million
Born Eilleen Regina Edwards, Shania Twain has been around forever and is one of the most known Country artists of all time. The best-selling female artist in Country music. This is a huge accomplishment for this Ontario native.
Her hometown of Timmins is exceptionally proud of her. They even named a street after her and built the Shania Twain Center. Shania’s success gathered her several honorary titles including the “Queen of Country Pop”. Billboard also named her as the leader of the ’90s country-pop crossover stars.
In 2018, Twain was announced as the second recipient of the CCMA Generation Award. This is awarded to artists who have had a significant impact in the country music industry as well as awareness of country music worldwide.

Noted for her powerful and skilled vocals, Céline Marie Claudette Dion is one of the biggest, if not the biggest Canadian superstar there is in the world.
Celine Dion is worth an estimated $800 million and who knows if she will eventually become a billionaire as time goes on? One of her songs “My Heart Will Go On” featured in the box office hit The Titanic is one of her most famous, if not most famous tracks.
Telling Angélil that she wanted to be a star like Jackson after seeing Michael Jackson performing at the age of 8 is a dream come true for her.
Bagging 5 awards out of 17 nominations in the Grammys and 20 out of 74 in the Juno Awards.
Celine Dion is and remains the richest musician in Canada as of 2021.
