Domingo Rafael Tapia is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Oakland Athletics from the Dominican Republic. He was born on August 4, 1991, and is currently 31 years old. Tapia throws and bats right-handed, measuring 6 feet 3 inches (1.91 m) and 263 pounds (119 kg).
Tapia signed as an international free agent with the New York Mets on May 28, 2010. Tapia started pitching professionally in the Dominican Summer League and the Gulf Coast League in 2010. He pitched for the rookie-level Kingsport Mets and the Low-A Brooklyn Cyclones in 2011, going 6-5 with a 3.38 ERA in 12 games.
Tapia signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds organization on November 28, 2016. In 2017, he split the season between the Triple-A Louisville Bats and the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
Tapia was signed to the Boston Red Sox on November 16, 2018. There, he was assigned to play for minor league baseball teams including the Pawtucket Red Sox and Gigantes Del Cibao
Tapia was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Mariners on October 23, 2020. Tapia was designated for assignment by Seattle on May 17, 2021, after pitching two scoreless innings. He was traded to play with the Kansas City Royals in 2021 where he spent the entire season
On April 30 2022 Tapia was traded to the Oakland Athletics and was promoted to join the major leagues on May 29, 2022.
