Young Thug, the Grammy Award-winning rapper, was arrested on Monday and booked into Atlanta’s Fulton County Jail on gang-related charges.

Young Thug, real name Jeffery Lamar Williams, 30, was charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of engaging in criminal street gang activities after investigators accused him of renting a car used in a 2015 drive-by shooting that killed Donovan Thomas, 26.

In addition, he was charged with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). On Monday afternoon, video footage shared on TikTok and Twitter showed many police cars outside a home in the affluent Atlanta area of Buckhead.

The man, who is thought to be Williams, is seen being brought away by police with his hands shackled by zip-tie handcuffs.

Atlanta police arrested the rapper, albeit few specifics regarding the arrest have been released. During the raid on Williams’ residence, ten individuals were arrested and held, according to one photojournalist on the scene.

According to TMZ, agents also tore apart Williams’ home, knocking down walls and excavating his backyard. According to the Fulton County District Attorney’s office, Williams is accused of coordinating with others with the common aim of illegally gaining money and property via a pattern of racketeering activities.

According to a grand jury indictment, he and 27 other people were members of the same street gang.
