Meet Katy Perry
Katy Perry is a singer, songwriter, and actress from the United States. She has been on American Idol as a judge since Season 16.
Perry made his debut appearance on American Idol as a guest judge on the first day of the Los Angeles auditions during Season 9. She even wore a cape with Adam Lambert’s name on it during her performance.
On May 16, 2017, she was announced as a judge for Season 16 of ABC’s The Voice.
Due to speculations that she could earn up to $25 million for the role, the selection drew some criticism. Perry was a judge for seasons 17, 18, and 19 of the show.
Meet Lionel Richie
Since Season 16, Lionel Richie has served as a judge on American Idol. He is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor.
For the second Top 8 Week of Season 2, Richie appeared as a guest judge.
Richie will join pop superstar Katy Perry and country superstar Luke Bryan as a judge in Season 16 of American Idol, the network announced on September 29, 2017. For seasons 17 and 18 and now 22, Richie returned as a judge.

Luke Bryan is the only Judge of the judging panel from Seasons 16 through 22 who has never served as a guest judge on American Idol.
