Meet Rustam Ibragimbekov’s Siblings Magsud Ibrahimbeyov
Magsud Mammadibrahim oglu Ibrahimbeyov was a member of the Azerbaijani National Assembly and a Soviet and Azerbaijani writer.
Ibrahimbeyov was born to Mammad Ibrahimbeyov and Fatima Meshadibeyova in Baku, Azerbaijan. Rustam Ibragimbekov, a well-known Azerbaijani screenwriter, was his older brother.
He graduated from Baku Polytechnical Institute with a B.A. in Industrial and Civil Construction in 1960.
Ibrahimbeyov worked for the Azerbaijan SSR Ministry of Construction and tried his hand as a reporter at the All-Union Radio and Television, representing Azerbaijan.
From 1960 to 1964, he concentrated on literary studies and attended advanced screenplay and directing courses in Moscow.
He became renowned as a Russophone Azerbaijani writer after that. Some of his plays were eventually staged in Soviet Union theaters.
In addition, he created screenplays for 12 feature films and 11 documentaries.
In 1985, Magsud Ibrahimbeyov ran for office. In 2000 and 2004, he was elected twice to the Azerbaijani National Assembly.
He was noted for his intense commitment to the ruling New Azerbaijan Party while running as an independent candidate in the elections.
When independent Azerbaijani writer Elmar Huseynov was assassinated in 2005, Ibrahimbeyov declined to stand in his honor during a minute of quiet in the Azerbaijani parliament, drawing widespread condemnation and enmity.
