Pierre Zakrzewski’s reason why they were being shot at by Russian soldiers is unknown. He was with Fox News Correspondent Benjamin Hall who is injured and remains hospitalized.

According to reports, their vehicle was hit by incoming fire and was killed in Ukraine on Monday.

Zakrzewski, 55, had been based in London and had been working in Ukraine since February.

The condition of Hall, a Fox correspondent injured in the same incident, was not mentioned in the statement, but he remained hospitalized on Tuesday.

“We share the news this morning regarding our dear cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski with tremendous grief and a heavy heart,”

Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott emailed to workers Tuesday morning. “Pierre was assassinated in Horenka, Ukraine, just outside of Kyiv.”

The Fox News Channel extends its heartfelt condolences to Pierre’s wife, Michelle, and his entire family. Pierre Zakrzewski was only 55 years old when he died, and we already mourn him.”

The attack on the Fox crew came just one day after another American journalist, Brent Renaud, was killed in Ukraine by a bullet.

Renaud was killed and another journalist was wounded by Russian soldiers while heading to film refugees in the town of Irpin, outside of Kyiv, according to the chief of Kyiv’s regional police unit.
