Ken Paxton, born Warren Kenneth Paxton Jr. is the current Attorney General of Texas. Ken has been in office since 2015. Ken is a graduate of Baylor University. He holds a degree in psychology from the university and also holds a Master of Business Administration certificate from the same university. At the University, he was elected president of the student government.
Ken took a break from school for two years and worked as a management consultant before returning to school in 1988. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1991 where he received a Juris Doctor degree. After graduation, he worked at Strasburger & Price, L.L.P. from 1991 to 1995, and J.C. Penney Company, Inc. from 1995 to 2002.
During the November 4, 2014, general election, Ken defeated his Democratic opponent, an attorney from Houston named Sam Houston. He took office on January 5, 2015.
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ken threatened to file lawsuits against local governments unless they reversed stay-at-home orders and cancelled rules regarding the use of face masks to combat the spread of Coronavirus.
