Mr Todd Harry Kalas is an American sportscaster who has been working as a play-by-play announcer for the Houston Astros baseball team on television since 2017. S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, was his first job out of college.

During his time at Syracuse, he worked at WAER radio, where he called Syracuse Orange games. During the 1990s, he worked as a broadcaster for the New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, and Tampa Bay Rays, among other teams.

In the offseason, he works as a play-by-play announcer for Cox Sports Television in Louisiana, where he broadcasts college football, basketball, and baseball games. The University of South Florida basketball radio broadcast team, as well as the Lightning’s pregame show, are also a part of his professional experience.

He is the oldest son of late Philadelphia Phillies Hall of Fame broadcaster Harry Kalas and brother of poker pro-Kane Kalas. Todd, Brad, and Kane threw out the first pitch during the Phillies’ first home game four days after their father Harry died on April 13, 2009.

In addition to his father, Todd’s ball was tossed to former Phillies’ third baseman Mike Schmidt.
