Graham Paul Thorpe used to play cricket for the England national team and the Surrey cricket team. Graham’s professional career began in 1988 when he played for Surrey. He started playing internationally in 1993.
In 1998, he was named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year. In November 2000, he hit only one four in his hundred-plus seven threes, 12 twos and 51 singles in a game against Pakistan. During the 2002 cricket season, Graham started having issues in his marriage. The issues were said to be based on his infidelity.
This affected him both psychologically and physically as he could not focus on games. Graham decided to retire from Test cricket in July 2005. Before he finally retired, he played another two months with Surrey before following up his test retirement.
In June 2006, he was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). He was made a summarise for BBC Radio’s Test Match Special programme during the first Test of India’s 2007 tour of England. Graham also wrote a monthly column for the UK-based cricket magazine, SPIN World Cricket Monthly.
