Atlanta rapper, Trouble, born Mariel Semonte Orr, who collaborated with Drake, Migos, and The Weeknd, has died, according to his record company Def Jam. He was 34 years old at the time.
Orr was shot around 3:20 a.m. Sunday at the Lake St. James Apartment complex in Conyers, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, and died after being transferred to a local hospital, according to WSB-TV. While no arrests have been made, a warrant has been issued for Jamichael Jones, 33, a possible murder suspect.
On Instagram, Def Jam posted, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the children, loved ones, and fans of Trouble.” “He was a true ambassador for his city and an inspiration to the community he passionately represented.” Scoob, rest in peace.”
Trouble — better known as Scoob — was honored on social media by fellow Atlanta rappers Gucci Mane and 2 Chainz. “Trouble’s personality filled up a room and his discussion left you more creative than [sic] when you walked in,” producer Mike WiLL Made-It, who acted as executive producer on Trouble’s 2018 debut album “Edgewood,” wrote in an Instagram Story. When we spoke, his accent, dialect, and charm were always discussed; our conversations were usually full of laughs.”
Orr first gained notoriety with his debut mixtape, “December 17th,” which was named one of Complex’s top 25 mixtape releases of 2011. His breakout single “Bussin” was featured on the album, and it was later remixed by Yo Gotti, Waka Flocka Flame, and Trae the Truth. Trouble was named one of the “15 Atlanta Rappers You Should Know” by XXL magazine in 2013. He went on to record two complete studio albums, the most recent of which was “Thug Love” in 2020. Mike WiLL Made-imprint, It’s Ear Drummer Records, signed the songwriter to Interscope Records in 2018.
