Alberta Richie is the mother of popular R and B musician Lionel Richie. Alberta was a teacher. She was born on January 27, 1917, in Tuskegee, Macon County in Alabama in the United States of America. She died at the age of 83 on January 15, 2001, in her birth town in Alabama.
Her son, Lionel Richie became part of the Commodores where he became a singer and saxophonist in 1968. The Commodores signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records in 1968 for one record before moving on to Motown Records.
