Meet Donald M. Blinken

 

Donald Mayer Blinken is a former diplomat and businessman from the United States.

He was a director and one of the founders of the New York investment bank E. M. Warburg Pincus & Company.

From 1978 to 1990, he was the board chairman of the State University of New York, and from 1994 to 1997, he was the United States Ambassador to Hungary.

His son, Antony Blinken, is the current Secretary of State of the United States.

Blinken was born in New York City on November 11, 1925, to Maurice Blinken and Ethel Horowitz. Blinken and his brothers Alan and Robert were born to a father from Kyiv and a Jewish mother.

Author Meir Blinken was his grandfather. Both New York City and Yonkers, New York, were home to the brothers. The Horace Mann School was their alma mater.

After serving in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, Blinken received a magna cum laude in Economics from Harvard in 1948.

The Mark Rothko Foundation was presided over by Blinken. He has homes in East Hampton, New York, and the River House.

After receiving a significant donation from the couple in 2015, the Open Society Archives in Hungary was renamed the Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives.

 

Meet Judith Pisar

 

 

Judith Pisar was born on  February 17, 1938.

Judith Pisar was the Director of Music at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Executive Director of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, and the founder of UNESCO’s The Composer.

She routinely arranged concerts and festivals of American music in Paris as President of Arts France-USA, an organization dedicated to cultural relations between the two countries.

Ms. Judith Pisar, as a UNESCO Special Envoy for Cultural Diplomacy, supports UNESCO’s efforts, particularly in the context of the International Decade for Cultural Rapprochement (2013-2022).

Because of her commitment to cultural diversity, Ms. Judith Pisar was nominated as a UNESCO Special Envoy for Cultural Diplomacy in June 2017.

Judith has been married twice. Judith was married to Donald Blinken, a well-known investment banker and arts promoter, but the couple split in the early 1970s, and she relocated to Paris with her son to start a new life with Pisar.

Judith has two children. Anthony Bliken and Leah Pisar
