Is Bruce Willis Still Acting?
Bruce Willis, widely known for his work on the Die Hard franchise, has announced his retirement from the profession after being diagnosed with aphasia.
Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955, in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany, to a German mother, Marlene Kassel, and an American father, David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point, New Jersey), both of whom were stationed on a US military installation at the time.
His family immigrated to the United States shortly after his birth, and he grew up in Penns Grove, New Jersey, where his mother worked at a bank and his father was a welder and factory worker.
Willis had an interest in the dramatic arts while in high school and was reputedly “discovered” while working at a café in New York City, after which he appeared in a few off-Broadway musicals.
What Happened To Bruce Willis?
Willis has been “experiencing various health concerns and has just been diagnosed with aphasia, which is hurting his cognitive ability,” according to a joint statement issued on his family’s social media sites.
“As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”
The statement continued: “This is a really challenging time for our family, and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion, and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.
“As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up, and together we plan to do just that.”
