As a result, she was able to compete in some of the most prestigious WTA Tour events, such as Indian Wells and Miami.
In Charleston, she defeated world No. 12 Anastasija Sevastova her way to the third round, her highest result thus far in the early clay court season.

At this point in her career, she had reached a career high position of 55th in the world. However, Pegula did not win another main draw match after that and still concluded the year ranked inside the top 100, at No. 76.
At the Auckland Open, Jessica defeated CiCi Bellis in the first round to begin her 2020 tennis season. Thereafter she beat Tamara Zidanek and Alizé Cornet to reach the semifinals of Wimbledon.
There she defeated Caroline Wozniacki 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to reach her third WTA final. Pegula was beaten in straight sets by 23-time Grand Slam singles champion Serena Williams, who Pegula met for the first time.
