Josh Warrington is an English professional boxer who held the IBF featherweight title from 2018 to January 2021.
At the regional level, he held the British, Commonwealth, European and WBC International featherweight titles between 2013 and 2017.
In 2021, Warrington faced Mauricio Lara, a moderately obscure 22-year-old Mexican possibility, on 13 February after more than an extended time of latency.
No title was on the line as Warrington had cleared his IBF featherweight title a month earlier.
Warrington got going the battle more slowly than expected, and in the fourth round, he was wounded by a left snare before, at last, being wrecked.
In spite of getting up, Warrington never recovered his legs, however, he had the option to land a couple of powerful blends on Lara in the resulting adjusts.
Yet again in the 10th round, Lara wrecked Warrington with a left snare, and the battle was promptly canceled by the official, giving Warrington his first vocation misfortune.
Lara’s triumph was viewed as a significant bombshell, as he had been evaluated as an 11/1 (+1100) pre-battle dark horse, contrasted with Warrington having been appraised as the 1/33 (- 3300) wagering number one.
The Ring magazine thought that the outcome was an early possibility for its Upset of the Year grant.
