Kurt Zouma is a French professional footballer who plays as a center-back for Premier League club West Ham United and the France national team.
At Maccabi Tel Aviv on November 24th, he came on as a substitute for the injured John Terry and scored his first European goal to help Chelsea win 4–0.
Terry and Zouma had a formidable partnership under interim manager Guus Hiddink. The anterior cruciate ligament in Zouma’s right knee was damaged on February 7th, 2016, as he landed awkwardly from a jump during a match against Manchester United.
He was forced to miss six months of work after undergoing surgery. During the preseason in 2016, Zouma traveled with the first team and practiced with them.
Schalke 04’s loan request was also rejected by Chelsea. Chelsea’s under-23 squad drew 2–2 with Derby County on October 24th, marking Zouma’s return to competitive action after a nine-month absence.
In Chelsea’s 4–1 FA Cup third-round triumph over Peterborough United on January 8, 2017, Zouma made his first-team comeback.
