Kurt Zouma is a French professional footballer who plays as a center-back for Premier League club West Ham United and the France national team.
Zouma began his professional career at the tender age of nine with Vaulx-en-Velin, where he remained until he was 15. The former right-winger and striker had previously played for the team as a central defender.
In 2009, Zouma signed with Saint-Étienne. he signed his first professional contract on April 2, 2011, committing to a three-year deal.
Manager Christophe Galtier later moved him to the senior team for the 2011–12 season, and he first played without a name on his shirt to keep the media from focusing on him.
It was against Bordeaux in the 2011 Coupe de la Ligue when 16-year-old Zouma made his professional debut, playing the entire game and scoring a goal in a 3–1 win.
His first professional goal occurred on November 19th, when he replaced Paulo after nine minutes and scored from a corner kick to secure a 2–0 win over OGC Nice before the break.

According to RSPCA, Kurt Zouma’s two cats are perfectly fine and healthy. The cats had no lasting indications of injuries, according to the vet, but being kicked and a hit would have induced anxiety or anguish in the cats, he noted.
