Guy Lafleur was a Canadian ice hockey star who was born in Thurso on September 20, 1951. From 1971 until 1985, he played for 15 years, then retired and returned to the game from 1988 to 1991.
He was a member of the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Quebec Nordiques, and Canada’s national team. Guy Lafleur was the first ice hockey player in NHL history to achieve 50 goals and 100 points in six consecutive seasons.
He was a seven-time Molson Cup champion, six-time First Team All-Star Right Winger, five-time Stanley Cup champion, and three-time Art Ross Trophy winner (consecutively from 1976).
In 1996, he was inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame, and in 1988, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Lafleur was a father of two children who were married. His wife’s name is Lise Lafleur, whom he married in 1973.
