Rosmarie Trapp, born Rosmarie von Trapp was born in February 1929. She passed away at the age of 93 on Friday, May 13 2022 at The Manor in Morrisville. Rosmarie’s family was known for being singers as they were called the Trapp Family Singers.
The Trapp family were singers living in Austria who escaped from the Nazi occupation to settle in the USA. The family continued their singing in America where they were recognised and started being famous.
Rosmarie was a supporting cast in the movie walking across a road as Julie Andrews sings the song “I Have Confidence.” She also worked as a missionary and teacher in New Guinea as well as on a kibbutz in Israel. She lived in Stowe, Vermont.
Meet Rosmarie Trapp’s Parents Maria von Trapp And Georg von Trapp
Rosmarie was born to parents Georg Ludwig Ritter von Trapp and Maria von Trapp. Her father, Georg was an officer in the Austro-Hungarian Navy and was also the most successful Austro-Hungarian submarine commander during World War I. When his family started singing, he became the patriarch of the Trapp Family Singers.
Rosmarie’s mother, Maria von Trapp, was the one who wrote The Story of the Trapp Family Singers. The book was published in 1949 and was made into a movie in 1956. Her family story also inspired the 1959 Broadway musical, The Sound of Music and its film version in 1965.
