Michael Degen was a German-Israeli actor. He was a film and theatre actor, theatre director and writer. At the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm in East Berlin, Degen joined Bertolt Brecht’s Berliner Ensemble.
He worked at the Schauspiel Köln in 1955/56, the Mannheim National Theatre from 1956 to 1963, and then the Schauspiel Frankfurt in 1963/64.
He worked at the Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin from 1967 to 1973. He performed Shakespeare’s Hamlet 300 times during his career.
Degen worked with directors such as Ingmar Bergman, George Tabori, Peter Zadek, and Claude Chabrol in Munich, Salzburg, and Hamburg.
He played Dom Juan in Ingmar Bergman’s Salzburg Festival production of Moliere’s Dom Juan and Adam in Kleist’s The Broken Jug.
In 1972, he made his directorial debut in Goethe’s Urfaust. He was the director of the Bayerische Staatsschauspiel in Munich for four years. Degen has been in films since 1963.

Michael Degen’s daughter and the first child Elisabeth Degen. She, like her father, has chosen to pursue a career in acting. She was born in Berlin, Germany, on January 19, 1971, and will be 51 years old in 2022.
Unlike Elsabeth, he has chosen to keep his other children out of the spotlight. They, on the other hand, are doing well with the money their father has left them and their numerous occupations.
Michael Degen’s only son and second kid is Jakob Degen. Adina Degen is the actor’s second daughter and third kid.
Gabi Degen is Michael Degen’s third daughter and fourth child.
