Michaela McAreavey formerly Michaela Harte was the daughter of Tyrone Gaelic football manager Mickey Harte. She was born on 31st December 1993 and was a 27-year-old Irish language teacher from Glencull (Ballygawley, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland). She was the Ulster Rose in the Rose of Tralee in 2004.
Michaela McAreavey was killed on January 19, 2010, in a hotel in Mauritius during her honeymoon. She died only 10 days after her marriage to now widower John McAreavey.According to autopsy results, McAreavey was strangled to death before being placed in a tub of water in her hotel room.
There is still no culprit as all the suspects which included some hotel staff, her husband and a security guard have been acquitted and discharged of the crime.

McAreavey was born to parents Mickey and Marian Harte. Her father Mickey (born 1952) is a Gaelic football manager who presently manages the Louth county team in Ireland. He was the longest-serving manager in inter-county competition at the time of his resignation in 2020, having managed the Tyrone county team from 2002.
He is known to be the county’s most successful senior manager, having guided it to three All-Ireland Senior Football Championships, six Ulster Senior Football Championships, one National League, and twelve, Dr. McKenna Cups.
Harte is regarded as one of the best tacticians in the game, and he is admired by both colleagues and former opponents. It is reported that Mickey lot two brothers at the time of Michaela’s murder.
Marian Harte is the mother of the late Michaela McAreavey.There is not much information about Marian as she was not a celebrity. But we know that she had four children with Mickey; Mark, Michael, Mattew, and Michaela.
