She was born to Dorai Raj and Leela Raj on December 3, 1982, in Jodhpur, India. She learned to play cricket at the age of 10. During the 2013 Women’s World Cup, she was the No.1 cricketer in the ODI chart for women. Mithali happens to be the first player to captain most matches for the India cricket team in ODI and T20I.

She was appointed as the captain of India’s cricket team for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand and in June 2022, she announced that she was going to retire from international cricket.
