Photos of Sabita Thanwani, The Student Murdered at City of London University
A photo of a university student discovered slain in her dorms has been released by police.
Police have identified Sabita Thawani, 19, as the student who was murdered at Arbour House in London, however formal identification has yet to take place.
Her family has been informed, and specialized police are assisting them, according to Metropolitan Police.
Officers were dispatched to the location at 5.10 a.m. on Saturday after receiving reports of a woman with serious injuries.
Despite the presence of police and doctors, the woman, a City University of London student, was pronounced dead.
It happens after police issued an urgent call for assistance in order to locate a man they want to talk with, as well as two photos of him.
Maher Maaroufe, 22, was in a relationship with Sabita, but he was not a student, according to police.
Anyone who sees him should not approach him but instead dial 999.
“I am reiterating our urgent call for information to trace 22-year-old Maher Maaroufe,” said DCI Linda Bradley, Specialist Crime.
He has connections all throughout London, especially in the neighborhoods of Marble Arch, Edgware Road, and Lewisham. He’s also been reported to visit Cambridgeshire.
“We posted a photo of Maaroufe with dark hair, a mustache, and a beard. He currently has no facial hair and has shaved his head.
“Maaroufe was dating Sabita, although he wasn’t a student.” He is a Tunisian national who does not have a permanent address.
“Officers are doing inquiries to locate anyone who had contact with him, but I would encourage anybody who knew him and has not yet spoken with authorities to do so.
