Queen Elizabeth Parents:
Elizabeth II is the Queen of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth states. Her Parents are Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and George VI.
Meet Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother
Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon was the wife of King George VI and Queen consort of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 11 December 1936 to 6 February 1952.
From her husband’s accession as King-Emperor in 1936 until the British Raj was abolished in August 1947, she was India’s last Empress consort.
To avoid confusion with her daughter, Queen Elizabeth II, she was known as Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother when her husband died.
After marrying the second son of King George V and Queen Mary’s, the Duke of York, in 1923, Elizabeth became a household name in the United Kingdom.
As a family, they lived up to the values of community service that they instilled in their two daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret. The Duchess of Cambridge was recognized for her pleasant demeanor throughout her many public appearances.
Meet George VI
From May 6, 1910, until his death in 1936, George V reigned as King of the United Kingdom and British Dominions, as well as Emperor of India.
Queen Victoria’s granddaughter George VI was the second son and third in line to the British throne of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, following his father and elder brother, Prince Albert Victor.
On January 1, 1892, the untimely death of George’s elder brother placed him in direct succession to the throne.
George was made Prince of Wales after his father, King Edward VII, succeeded to the throne following the death of Queen Victoria in 1901. After his father’s death in 1910, he succeeded as king-emperor.
When George ruled, socialism, communism, fascism, the Irish republican movement, and the Indian independence movement were all on the rise in the British Empire.
The 1911 Parliament Act established the House of Commons’ sovereignty over the House of Lords.
