Douglas Bruce Ford Sr. (February 27, 1933 – September 22, 2006) was a politician and businessman from Ontario, Canada. From 1995 until 1999, he served in the Ontario Legislative Assembly as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party, representing the Etobicoke—Humber constituency.
He was the father of Rob Ford, the former mayor of Toronto, and Doug Ford, the current Premier of Ontario. Randy Ford, Kathy Ford, Doug Ford Jr, and Rob Ford were Ford’s four children with his wife, Diane. Following his election setback in 1996, Ford stepped down from politics and focused on his business. He died of colon cancer in 2006 which was only six weeks after his diagnosis.
Ruth Diane Ford was Doug Ford Sr famous wife. Doug Ford met Ruth Diane while working as a lifeguard at the Glenview Terrace in early 1950. The couple got married in 1956 after which they had four children together. She died of cancer on January 5, 2020.
