The sheriff’s office in Rockdale County, Georgia, has confirmed that Atlanta-based rapper Trouble was killed over the weekend.

The woman, whose actual name is Mariel Semonte Orr, was found shot to death at 3:20 a.m. on Sunday at the Lake St. James Apartment complex in Conyers, Georgia, according to the sheriff’s department. Later, in a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries and died.

No arrests have been made, but warrants have been issued for 33-year-old Atlanta man Jamichael Jones in connection with the murder, according to the Rockdale County sheriff. This is a picture of him that was released:

At a press conference held on Sunday evening, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office provided an update on the investigation.

According to Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jedidia Canty, the shooting looks to be a domestic dispute. She went on to say that the woman they were visiting at the apartment complex knew Trouble and Jones.

In a social media statement, Trouble’s record label, Def Jam Records, referred to the rapper as “a voice for his city.” The label wrote on Instagram, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the children, loved ones, and fans of Trouble.” An example to the people he served, he was an unwavering advocate for his hometown.

Trouble’s debut mixtape, December 17th, was published in 2011 and included the song “Bussin’,” which has amassed approximately 2.8 million views on YouTube.

According to checks online, Rapper Trouble has no Instagram account. However, Trouble had an active and verified Twitter account with over 126,000 followers at the time of his death.
