A new season of “Squid Game” has been announced.

On Sunday, Netflix revealed that the highly anticipated South Korean series would be returning for a second run.

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the film’s director, writer, and executive producer, wrote a letter to fans saying, “And now, Gi-hun returns.”

“The Front Man makes a triumphant comeback to the stage. Season 2 is on its way.”

“Squid Game” is a South Korean television series in which players who are in severe need of money compete to win cash prizes by playing dangerous children’s games.

“Squid Game” follows a divorced gambler named Seong Gi-hun, who enters a contest for the chance to win a large sum of money.

A fresh cast and storylines for season two were hinted at by Hwang. This might be the return of the mystery marketer who lures desperate contestants to the game show with promises of ddakji.

The show’s iconic robotic doll, Young-“lover,” hee’s Cheol-su, will also be introduced in the letter.
“Squid Game” was Netflix’s “biggest-ever series at launch,” according to CNN in October.

It is the first time a Korean series has topped the U.S. charts on Netflix, with 1.65 billion hours of streaming in the 28 days after its release.

In the letter, Hwang said, “It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year.” “However, Squid Game became the most popular series ever in just 12 days.” The second season of the sitcom was confirmed by Hwang last year.

For a second season, “there’s been a lot of desire, affection and attention,” he said. “As a result, I believe I have no choice but to produce a second series.”
