Vitali Klitschko, born Vitali Volodymyrovych Klitschko is a Ukrainian politician who was born July 19, 1971. He is currently serving as the mayor of Kyiv and is also the head of the Kyiv City State Administration.

Before becoming a politician, Vitali was a professional boxer who won multiple heavyweight championship titles. Although Vitali was around the Kyiv parliament around 2004, he officially began his political career in 2006 when he stood as mayor and placed second in the Kyiv mayoral elections.

During the 2004 Ukrainian presidential election, Vitali and his brother, Wladimir Klitschko, openly supported the candidacy of Viktor Yushchenko and after Viktor won the presidency position, he appointed Vitali as his adviser.

In 2010, he founded the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform (UDAR) party and was elected as a parliamentary member for the party in 2012. In 2014, he wanted to partake in the Ukrainian presidential election but decided against it and rather chose to run for the post of Mayor of Kyiv in the 2014 Kyiv local election. Vitali was sworn in as mayor in June 2015 after he won the mayoral elections with almost 57% of the votes.

Vitali and his wife, Natalia Egorova have three children together, Yegor-Daniel Klitschko, Elizabeth-Victoria Klitschko and Max Klitschko who was named after the former world heavyweight champion Max Schmeling.
